This daisy stencil mask is a template used to transfer the daisy pattern to paper or other firm surface. The mask will cover areas creating a negative space or to protect existing elements from new layers of color or texture being added to the print. Mask cut from Archival polyester film from Dura-Lar.
As an example: When used on a Gelli Plate:
Roll out acrylic paint with a brayer to completely cover the area (in this case the pink and blue combination were used). Then, lay the paper onto the gelli plate and pull the print. I used medical exam paper.
Next roll white paint onto the gelli plate and place the Daisy Stencil Mask on top of it. Then place the paper from #1 and rub it to transfer the paint onto the paper as a second layer. Then pull that print.
The mask covers areas creating a negative space that protects elements from existing layers of paint on the paper. We use the prints created when working in mixed media collage.
